Transfer savefiles from pc to pc

Iwanna know how to transfer the savefiles to one pc to another. I copied the saves but it doesnt work.

In order for us to provide better support, we need to see the log generated by Citra. This guide will walk you through how you can obtain the log file: How to Upload the Log File.

Make sure to read the whole thing before following the instructions!
Right-click on your game in the game list before launching on PC1 and select Open Save Data Location. It should open up a folder with you save file inside. Go up a couple folders until you arrive at the 00040000 folder. Copy-and-paste this folder to whatever means you’re using to transfer the files to PC2 (USB, Google Drive, whatever).
Now transfer the files to PC2. Start up citra on that on PC2 and once again right-click on a game there and select Open Save Data Location. Go up a bunch of folders until you reach the 00040000 folder. Now replace this 00040000 folder with the you copied over from your other pc and you’re done.

Do keep in mind that doing this will wipe any save files you currently have on PC2’s citra!
If you only want to transfer the save files for some specific game and not others, then instead of copying the 00040000 folder, copy the folder inside the 00040000 folder that corresponds with the gameID of the game who’s save file you’re trying to transfer. There will be a folder for every game that you have on citra inside the 00040000 folder so make sure you copy and paste the correct one.

I did this exactly and it says that the savefiles are damaged and I don’t know why

A couple questions:

  1. Do the save files still function normally on PC1?
  2. Which game’s save files are you trying to port over to PC2?
  3. What kind of error message are you getting when you try to open the save files on PC2 exactly? (Providing a screenshot would be nice)

Im so sorry for didnt answer before.
Yes, they function normally on PC1
Im trying to port Animal Crossing New Leaf and Pokemon Ultrasun save files
When I enter the game this is the message that shows up:

Hmmm, I’m not sure since I don’t own the game myself, but animal crossing might be one of those games that also stores parts of the save data inside of the extradata folder. In which case you’ll need copy that over as well.

Important: The steps below will overwrite the save files of any games on PC2 that you have save files for on PC1.
Since we might as well just copy the entire sdmc folder at this point, lets just do that. Open up Citra on PC1, then go to File>Open Citra Folder. There should be an folder here called sdmc. Copy this folder and transfer it to PC2. Now start up Citra on PC2 and once again go to File>Open Citra Folder and now paste the sdmc folder you got from PC1 into this folder and overwrite when prompted.

The above should transfer every part of the save files to PC2. Let me know if you run into issues.

I did this exactly and the problem persists :frowning:

Just asking this to make sure, but are you using Save States (Citra’s save option) to record your progress or save files (in-game save option)?

I do both of them in every game

Are you using the exact same dump on PC2 as you used on PC1?
