Transfering old save to a new computer

Issue:
Is there anyway to get saved files from an old computer, to work in a new one. I am trying to boot up old saves from my old hard drive, to my new citra and whenever i try to run them, my citra crashes/force closes. My files are taken from my old hard drives appdata (D:\Users\Owner\AppData\Roaming\Citra\states), and put into my current appdata (same file address but with C: infront). Again, once I try to load the files (it shows the new saves as added) my citra crashes. Any known fixes for this/anything im doing wrong?

Save States are non-transferable. Loading them on a different system and Citra version from the one that they were created on will lead to all sorts of issues. Only in-game save files can be transferred (found inside of the sdmc folder). Even so, the latest Nightly coincidentally has broken save states.

Please use a previous Nightly build (1866) for now:

Download citra-windows-mingw-20230326-9ef4204.7z from Release nightly-1866 · citra-emu/citra-nightly · GitHub Extract it using winrar or 7zip. Then launch citra-qt(.exe) found inside of the extracted folder.

Hello everyone,

I recently got a new Intel Arc laptop and I want to transfer my old game saves to it. I’m not sure how to do this, so I was hoping someone could help me out.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  • I tried copying the save files from my old computer to a USB drive and then transferring them to my new laptop, but the game doesn’t recognize them.
  • I also tried using a cloud storage service to transfer the files, but that didn’t work either.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to transfer old game saves to a new computer? I’m not very tech-savvy, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

On your old PC, open Citra, then go to File>Open Citra Folder. Copy the sdmc folder found here and transfer that to your new PC. You place it in the exact same spot; Open Citra again, go to File>Open Citra Folder and replace the sdmc folder here with the one from your old PC.
