Ubuntu 19.10 VULKAN display crash

When I try and run Pokemon Shield using the vulkan api yuzu doesent get past the loading screen and after a few seconds my whole display “crashes”. I’m not sure how to describe it so theres a picture attached that shows what my display looks like after the crash. The game works using opengl but at a very low framerate and frame delay to the point that it is unplayable for me.
