Vulcan vs OpenGL GPU Usage

I’ve done various searches on the internet for things like “best settings for yuzu” and “best settings for xyz game” and it seems past information recommended OpenGL (especially if you have a Nvidia card), and now seeing more current information, Vulkan is now default and what is optimal regardless of GPU. And so far, Vulkan does seem to work really well over and against OpenGL from my current experiences.

All that being said, I was curious as to why Vulkan uses significantly more GPU? Is there just a certain setting that causes Vulkan to use so much more GPU or it’s just the nature of the way the API works.
