What happens to my savegame If I regenerate ID?

I’m playing pokemon ultra sun and I want to trade with a friend, we are having some problems and I think is because I’m using his system files and we have the same ID, so if I regenerate my ID could this affect my savegame?

Technically, it could. But I haven’t seen a game till now where it actually does.

I regenerated my ID and that solved my issue, no problems so far
